Deltin Goa hosts India’s biggest poker tournament

The Deltin Royale vessel recently hosted the third edition of World Poker Tour, India’s biggest live poker tournament with a prize pool of a whopping Rs 3.25 crores for the main event, the largest guarantee for a single event in the country. Supported by Adda52.com, India’s largest online poker and card games site, the World Poker Tour (WPT) witnessed glamour, excitement and nail-biting contests at its third edition.

The event had the Kickoff NLH with a 20k buy-in, the Superstack with a 35k buy-in and the Big Bounty with a 25k buy-in, all over two days each. It also features a 100k buy-in High Roller which plays down to a champion, permitting two re-entries with a 40k starting stack. The biggest highlight of the World Poker Tournament was the Main Event with a 55k buy-in.

Speaking on the occasion, business head of Poker at Delta Corp, Manish J Adnani said, “WPT India is back for the third time, here in Goa. It’s been a good start right from the beginning, with prize pools growing organically. We hope to propel the fabric to the next level, hopefully setting the benchmark for live poker events for the decade. Working with the WPT team has been a tremendous learning and we look forward to translating that into a fabulous event for the third season.”

Adda52.com CEO Naveen Goyal explained, “Being a category leader in online poker, Adda52 has always invested in offering the best user experience to its poker players across online and offline channels. After two successful editions of WPT, it continues to be the exclusive partner for WPT 2019 and maintain the international standards of the game.”

He added, “This time, it is an even bigger event with a massive guaranteed prize pool of Rs 3.25 crores. The participation in such tournaments is bound to increase because of the exclusivity and unparalleled experience being offered.”

In recent years, India is projected to be a key destination in gaming as more opportunities develop in this sector over time. Apart from the real-life prospects, online gaming in India also displayes a lot of potential for growth in the future, say a number of analysts.
