Actress Freida Pinto revealed that she is playing Mowgli's adoptive mother in . The live-action adventure fantasy film is being directed by Andy Serkis, who plays Baloo, along with Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan, Christian Bale as Bagheera and Cate Blanchett as Kaa.

Freida, who co-starred Andy's in , said she is very excited to be a part of the film, which is based on the novel by Rudyard Kipling, reported Entertainment Tonight.

"I play Mowgli's adoptive mother, so I'm very, very excited about it. I read The Jungle Book and watched the TV series in India growing up, and for me, to finally be part of the film that reminds me so much of my childhood is just amazing," the 31-year-old actress said.

The lead role of Mowgli in will be portrayed by Rohan Chand, who played Adam Sandler's adopted son in 2011's . The film is slated to release next year.

Professor Tony Dyson, the British creator of the droid R2-D2, has been found dead at his home on the Maltese island of Gozo, police said. Neighbours raised the alert after noticing that the front door of the 68-year-old's apartment in Triq Zirzieb had been left open. Police said they had opened an inquiry into the cause of death but that foul play had been ruled out.
