In the 1920s, British surveyor Percy Fawcett disappeared in the jungles of Brazil, while on a mission to find a lost city that he claimed he had seen in an earlier expedition. In 2009, a book called The Lost City of Z was published, that told this story. Now, they’ve adapted that book into a film starring Charlie Hunnam, Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson. Basically the guy from Tron: Legacy, the new Spiderman, and that vampire called Edward. Those three head into the jungles of Brazil to find a lost city. Does this interest you now? Wait, hold on, we’re not saying Spiderman and Edward the vampire are roaming around Brazil’s jungles in the movie. Just to be clear.
The trailer to The Lost City of Z starts off with a host of voices warning Fawcett not to go ahead and undertake this mission. “Ain’t nobody comes back from up there,” someone says. But he goes anyway and never comes back. Perhaps if he had listed to that voice, he would have been playing with his kids somewhere in the hills of England. But then, great stories never came off from cowardice. Then again, they hardly ever come from failure too, but we guess we’re going to have to give Percy Fawcett this one right?
