Running may make your face flushed red, but this one event is all about going pink. ‘Goa Going Pink’ is pegged as the state’s first and only women-only marathon, which is scheduled to take place on April 17. One of the key agendas of ‘Goa Going Pink’ is to create a sense of awareness about women’s health and breast cancer, its causes and how to prevent the deadly disease. ‘Goa Going Pink’ as an event is conducted under the aegis of the ‘INDIA Going Pink’ umbrella. The broader concept was initiated by United Sisters Foundation, an organisation which is known to conduct nationally well-received events like the Pinkathon, a women’s 10km run, which is held across major cities in India.
‘Goa Going Pink’, the marathon will have couched in it an awareness campaign in order to impress upon women, about the importance of a healthier lifestyle and the need to have a positive attitude towards all aspects of life. The marathon has been divided into three categories. Category one will see women participating in the 10 km run, followed by a 5km run and then a 3km run beginning at Miramar Circle, located in the state capital. The event is being organised by Miracle Munj and Vasco Sports Club in association with United Sisters Foundation. Along with fitness, the marathon will also raise awareness about breast cancer, its causes and prevention.
