The annual event to commemorate the birth anniversary of the founder-director Maestro António de Figueiredo, was held recently at Kala Academy Dinanath Mangueshkar Auditorium.

Maestro António de Figueiredo was the founder-director of Academia de Música (1952), which merged with Kala Academy in the 1970s. The function was compered by Shannon de Almeida and welcomed by Teresa Figueiredo, Director, Western Music Section, KA. Among the performances, there were over a dozen items that included 4 piano solos; 2 violin solos; guitar and violin ensembles; junior and senior choirs. The Grand finale was by the KA String Orchestra, playing H. Millie's "Concertino".
The increasing population and transportation is taking toll on the natural beauty and environment.And the Western Ghats, bordering Goa-Maharashtra, are not an exception to this. A part of the Western Ghats, the Keri-Chorla Ghat is rich natural vegetation but these natural resources are getting fast depleted owing to the increasing vehicular traffic from both the sides and the increasing garbage thus flung on both sides of the road.
