It goes both ways. While there have been TV shows that have been created based on movies, a lot of movies have also been helmed following the success that the TV show enjoyed. Here's a look at a few popular ones that the audience enjoyed seeing on the big screen
The Man from UNCLE
Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer and Alicia Vikander scorched the screen with their fabulous performance in the 2015 action comedy The Man from UNCLE. The film that was directed by Guy Ritchie was a take of the 1960s spy show of the same name which was created by Ian Fleming, Norman Felton and Sam Rolfe.
Sex in the City
Viewers just couldn't get enough of Carrie Bradshaw, Samantha Jones, Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbes. And following the huge success of the TV shows, turning it into a movie proved to be just as good. And fans loved it so much that the call for a third movie is still very strong. And infact Sarah Jessica Parker who plays the role of Carrie Bradshaw has stated that she is open to returning for yet another film.
Scooby Doo
It's the TV that a lot of kids grew up watching and no matter how many times you watch it you just never tire of watching the four teenagers and a Great Dane named Scooby Doo traveling arounf in a van and solving supernatural mysteries. The meddling kids and the lovable dog finally got their own movie in 2002 starring Freddie Prinze, Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini.
Charlie's Angels
Another successful TV program of the70’s, Charlie’s Angels was the ultimate girl-power television drama. The series saw three women working for the Charles Townsend Agency as private investigators. The 2000 remake of the classic series saw Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu turning into Charlie Angels. The film also got a sequel in 2003.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Based on the comic book series created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles became a television show in 1987 and Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, Michelangelo, Splinter, Shredder, and the rest of the characters quickly became household names. The show got a live action adaptation in 1990. This was followed by three more films and numerous television series, toys, and comic book adaptations.
Mission: Impossible
The films starring Tom Cruise in the lead roles remain ever popular and it was recently announced that a sixth installment was in the works. Not many know however that Mission: Impossible was earlier a tv show that aired from: 1966 “ 1973 (CBS) and 1988 - 1990 (ABC)
G.I. Joe: The Movie
This animated series began in 1985 and quickly gre into a successful toy line. The show soon got a movie adaptation in 1987 and this was followed up with a 2009 live action remake titled G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra which didn't do all that well.
The Addams Family
Whether you liked this show or not, there is no denying that the theme song for the TV show is certainly unforgettable.The show aired from 1964 “ 1966 and is still popular even today. The show went to the big screen in 1991and is certainly memorable.
