Contrary to popular belief that the story of Neerja Bhanot’s bravery was forgotten till it was made into a film by Ram Madhvani, the 23-year-old flight attendant’s story was immortalised years ago in a television series called Heroes. The story of Neerja was aired in an Independence Day episode some years ago and the actress who played Neerja’s role was reality television star Karishma Tanna. Tanna is now more popular for her appearances in reality television and her relationship with actor and model Upen Patel, who proposed to her in the middle of an ongoing reality dance competition.
