Filmmaker Nitin Kakkar whose second feature film 'Ramsingh Charlie' starring noted actress Divya Dutta, is part of the ongoing 46th International Film Festival of India wants to concentrate on growing as a film maker rather than being a box office success.

“For me it is not about the box office yet, I just want to grow as a film maker and discover layers of myself,” says the director who is known for his National award winning film 'Filmistaan.'

Kakkar also believes that there is a smart audience out there. “When the actors are not so well known it is difficult to draw an audience but we are drawing an audience slowly. Also, with the internet, people are now exposed and understand more of world cinema. So we should not underestimate the audience,” he says.

'Ramsingh Charlie' tells the tale of a Charlie Chaplin impersonator in a circus who has always lived the life of an artist but suddenly finds himself caught between juggling the role of a father and an artist.

The film required the lead actress Divya Dutta to go for a no make up look and the actress admits that she was very nervous about the role. “I discovered things that I didn't know about myself with this role, and this is what every actor craves. It doesn't matter whether the film is big or small or in what language, what matters is the journey to know something more about yourself,” she says. “I had to unlearn a lot of things for the role. Nitin told me to come the way I was looking from home and go straight on to the camera. Actors are usually vain and like to be told that they look lovely. So I was very nervous about this.”
