Ben Affleck seems to live writing, directing and acting in a movie. He did it in The Town. In Argo, he acted and directed it. Perhaps it’s easier to get a good shift out of him if he tells himself what to do. We all saw him play a dry and aging Batman in Batman V Superman. The jury is still out on whether he was a good Batman or he was just winging it.
But here in Live by Night, he plays a not-so-dark role. Just your normal bootlegger turned gangster. The trailer is interesting. You see Affleck dressed in a snazzy suit, then you get a glimpse of the gorgeous Zoe Saldana. But that’s not enough, the young Elle Fanning comes up next. Now you get why Ben Affleck is so cool. He gets to direct a film where he’s acting with really good-looking women. How much fun is that? The cast also has Sienna Miller, and Brendan Gleeson who plays his police officer father. Now won’t that be interesting, a father as a cop and a son as a gangster. This isn’t Bollywood is it?
