Swastik Cultural Association in association with Samraat Club Khandola recently organized Swarayadnya, the 11th edition of workshop on ‘Riyaaj’ practice of Indian classical music. Swaryadnya workshop was inaugurated at the hands of Dr Sanjay Upadhye. Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Advocate Deepak Tilve, past state president of Samraat Club International State -1, Dr Shankar Joshi, Kajal Chodankar, secretary of Samraat Club Khandola and Dr Pravin Gaonkar, president of Swastik, Panaji. The event was held at Raut Farm House, Sal, Bicholim.
Swastik has been organizing Swarayadnya i.e. residential workshop for the last 10 years where all the participants practice various aspects of ‘Riyaaj’ or Indian classical music practice. ‘Riyaaj’ was conducted under the guidance of Goan vocalist Dr Pravin Gaonkar. In addition to that, Dr Sanjay Upadhye, from Pune delivered lectures on topic ‘Lifestyle and happiness’ for all three days. Besides, Dr. Ashok Marwa, a scientist by profession, delivered a talk on ‘Pranayama and the Science behind it’.
Dr Sanjay Upadhye, Prasad Naik and Vilas Kunkolienkar, president and secretary of Samraat Club International State 1 respectively; were present for the valedictory function of the workshop. More than 100 participants from Goa and neighboring states took part in this workshop and practiced various aspects of “Riyaaj”. Dr Sanjay Upadhye guided the participants on the importance of one’s mental and physical well being in order to be more creative.
