Omung Kumar’s biopic Sarbjit which was based on life of an Indian farmer, Sarabjit who was accused of terrorism and imprisoned in Lahore jail is aspiring to be in the race for winning an Oscar. The makers of the film have decided that they will be sending the critically acclaimed film to the Oscars this year in the Best Foreign Film category. “We will send it as an entry, independently or in the race with other films. We will channelise our energy to make sure Sarbjit is in the race to become India’s entry to the Oscar this year,” said film producer Vashu Bhagnani. However, Sarbjit won’t be the only movie sent from India. There will be other movies competing with the biopic. Then finally one of them will qualify in the final nomination. And that will be decided by the Oscar Panel.
