Art has no boundaries and it can cross all imaginations while expressing the concepts, feel these artists who gather in a different city each time and exhibit their work before a new set of audience.
“Art is a diverse range of human activities in creating visual, auditory, or performing artefacts - expressing the author’s imaginative, conceptual idea, or technical skill, intended to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional power,” believes Dr Rumki Dutta. A veteran artist from Tripura and an active member of 3G Artist Group that has artists from Assam, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Tripura under its banner, Dr Rumki will be in Goa for the upcoming exhibition of visual arts “ ‘Square’.
‘Square’“ an exhibition of visual art, organised by 3G Artist Group is their its 8th National Exhibition of Contemporary Art which will be held from December 27 to 29 at Ujwal Art Gallery Vagator in North Goa. Inaugurated by noted artist Mahesh Vengurlekar in the presence of Goan artist Sanjay Harmalkar on December 27, the exhibition will display works of eminent artists from these four states.
“In the same sequence our 9th Annual Art Summit “ ‘Square’ - National Exhibition of Contemporary Art will be held from December 31 to January 4 at Art Entrance gallery, Kalaghoda in Mumbai. ‘Square’ will be inaugurated by eminent artist and sculptor Uttam Pacharne, chairman of Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi,” briefs Dr Rumki.
3G Artist Group is an audacious attempt to exhibition indomitable spirit of art. It was in 2013 that some young artists of Odisha, Assam, Tripura were practicing their work together in Bhubaneswar. Dr Rumki was one of them. She recalls, “Later we decided to display our artwork on the same platform and therefore formed 3G Artist Group. Our general activities include the production of works of art, the criticism of art, the study of the history of art, and the aesthetic dissemination of art. Though the definition of what constitutes art is, often, under dispute and has changed over time, the general descriptions mention an idea of imaginative or technical skill stemming from human agency and creation.”
The nature of art and related concepts, creativity and interpretations - are explored in a branch of philosophy known as aesthetics. In the perspective of the history of artistic works have existed for almost as long as humankind: from early pre-historic art to contemporary art; however, some theories restrict the concept of ‘artistic works’ to modern Western societies, points out Dr Rumki.
The group has studios in Bhubaneswar, Assam and Tripura and the group members as well as the invited artists work together in those studios. The group also organises various talk shows and mega art exhibition in different states of India. “We have gained the interest and the supports of both electronic and printing media coverage, there by reaching out to the wider public response significantly through these achievements,” she shares.
