Goa’s most renowned art and cultural centre, the Kala Academy will host the Sufi Sutra 2016, a world peace music festival, which over three days, will bring the wonders of mystic music from across the globe to the audiences in Goa.
Sufism is regarded as the more mystical and spiritual dimension of Islam and has a great legacy in India, which has birthed Sufi poets and mystics over generations across the years. Kashmir is often regarded as the cradle of Sufism in India over the centuries.
The Sufi Sutra 2016 is being organised by the Goa government’s Directorate of Art and Culture in collaboration with Kala Academy, also a government-funded cultural agency and banglanatak dot com at the Kala Academy from February 10-12.
This is the sixth edition of the Sufi Sutra - World Peace Music Festival, a flagship festival of banglanatak dot com, which has musicians participating from across the globe namely from countries like Brazil, Burkina Faso, Hungary, Portugal, Scotland and USA.
On February 10, after the formal inauguration at 6 pm, the performances will be held as follows. Cherry Grove from Scotland (6:15 pm), Mavamba from Brazil (7:15 pm) and India’s famous Warsi Brothers (8:15 pm). Workshops will also be held by each of the groups between 10.30 am and 1.30pm on the 11th and 12th of February at Kala Academy.
