The Followill family of musicians are better known as the Kings of Leon. Most of us know them as “those fellows who did those songs mehn, you don’t remember, Sex on Fire and Use Somebody?” That was in 2008. They made more music since then but not everyone knows that. How could they, in this crazy pop-driven world, where oohs and aahs make up “awesome songs re”.
Their seventh studio album, Walls, will be coming out in October and KoL teased the album by releasing the first single from it, called “Waste A Moment.” It is truly delightful. There’s your great guitarwork, upbeat bassline and drum work and Caleb Followill’s trademark crooning. When he sings “Take the time to waste a moment,” you really feel like dropping everything and turning the volume up loud. It’s an awesome song really and refreshing in this day and age when going commercial and giving in to syncopated beats, repetitive chord work and “My five year old could write better” lyrics. (Yes, we’re looking at you Coldplay).
