The winners take it all

The seventh edition of Orchid Awards for Women Achievers of Goa was held at a glittering ceremony in Panaji recently and was attended by eminent citizens from across the state. The awards which were conferred across eight categories saw Jyoti M. Dhond walk away with the prize for journalism while Dr. R. C. Suvarna Fonseca e Antao won for education. Perpetua Fernandes E Jaques (Sports), Dr.Nandita de Souza (Social Work), Dr. Aparna S. Porob Palyekar (Rural Empowerment), Shreemi Pai Panandikar (Business), Swera Ana Braganca (Girl Child Prodigy) and Odette Mascarenhas (Art & Culture) were the other winners. The icing on the cake was a beautiful show put by the girls of Hamara School showcasing ‘Beti Bachao- Beti Padhao'.

How exactly did you go about conducting the workshop?This workshop is one of the modules from the book ‘For the Love of Art' which introduces contemporary art to children. Through the workshop I have taken examples from art history but connected them to something that this age group would know.
