Tune in to wild

Tune in to wild

The party folk are back. And so is the foam. After delivering some memorable previous editions, The Foundation is all set to amp things up with yet another crazy summer party with The Foam Party 5.0.

The Foundation was founded in 2013, by DJ Rinton D’Souza, photographer Glyn Pereira, and Ralph De Oliveira Fernandes.

“In that prevailing period, we noticed a gap in the nightlife industry where theme events and out of the box ideas were found to be lacking. We also had a strong sense of urgency to promote the younger talent bursting into the DJ industry as it is extremely difficult for a new face to carve a niche for themselves with the local artist scenario dominated by a few key players,” says Ralph. The team went on to debut their first Foam Party in 2013.

“The Foam Party was primarily marketed as a homegrown concept to further put emphasis on our key objective which was to promote local talent. We decide to throw in the foam aspect in order to set us apart from the mundane pool parties,” says Ralph.

And the response they received was surreal, they admit. 800 people graced The Foam Party in the first year and numbers have only been growing ever since.

What’s more, it’s definetely helped young talent find fame. “AK47 a fairly new upcoming duo DJ act at the time, gained a large fan following after that event, and now they are one of the household names when it comes to the best local artists in Goa,” states Ralph.

Their upcoming fifth anniversary party promises to be complete amaze. “Every year we usually put together a large scale outdoor event, with a stage, trussing etc, but this year we are planning a more intimate sun downer set up. Our line up keeping with tradition will be only local artists along with new upcoming artists,” says Ralph.

All set to spin some magic are acts like AK47 Official, Akshit Shetty, Dwayne Figueiredo, DJ Jay Aka. Brainwash, Brian Cardoz & Feleazar Fernandes, David Phimister, Joel Goa, DJ Nrush, PAWAN, Pushpam Patil, Ramnath Prabhu, DJ Rinton, Ryan Nogar and Surjal. The party will be held on May 13, 3 pm onwards at Sinq,Candolim.

Apart from their commercial work, artists often work on many personal projects, and are at times unable to get an opportunity to put these out for public viewing. Some of these artworks also have elements of the past involved in them, be it in the inspiration behind the creation or the materials used in this. And it was this that gave young graphic designer and illustrator Shusha Oliveira the out-of-box idea of having an exhibition around the theme ‘Anticlockwise’ which will…
