It’s Valentine’s Day. And whether you are celebrating it alone, with your partner, friends or the family, it's the perfect day to show your affection for each other and make your loved one feel special.
And if you are not comfortable stepping out of your house because of the pandemic situation, or simply because today, Valentine’s Day is a ‘dry day’ thanks to polling, here’s some fun and thoughtful activities you can still indulge in with your significant other.
• Eat breakfast in bed
The ultimate sweet something for your sweet someone? Whip up a delicious breakfast featuring a spread that only includes heart-shaped treats (break out those heart-shaped pans and cookie cutters) on Valentine's Day and enjoy it lounging in bed. It will be a nice change of pace from the usual morning hustle and bustle.
• Play a game
When was the last time you played a game… just the two of you? Pick a favorite from the closet, or try a new couple's themed game, like Talk, Flirt, Dare or Our Moments.
• Make playlists for each other
Spend some time putting together playlists for each other on your favorite streaming service. Choose songs that spark memories of your relationship or simply tunes you know your significant other will love. Then pour some wine, turn on the music, and reminisce.
• Go for a drive
No destination? No problem. All you need for this fun Valentine's Day activity is a sense of adventure and a full tank of gas! You'll both get out of your comfort zones while you explore new terrain. There's no telling what you might stumble across.
• Write love letters to each other
If you've never done it before, now's the time to put in writing why your partner is so special to you. Tell them which of their qualities you most admire, how they make you feel, and why you fell in love with them.
• Relax with a movie marathon
If you both are movie lovers and have some common favourites, it is the best day to binge on some mushy rom-coms or series that will warm your heart. Pop open a bottle of wine, order your favourite snacks and enjoy each other's company.
• Stargaze
You don't need a telescope to set up a stargazing date. Just head to your own backyard with a warm, outdoor blanket, get cozy and use a stargazing app to help identify constellations in the night sky.
• Plan a picnic… at home
If you want to spend some quality time with your loved one, plan a picnic on your balcony, backyard or even your living room. Throw your comfiest cushions and mattresses on the floor, spread out a pretty bed sheet, a gourmet spread, decorate a bit and you are all set. A little music in the background will get the right feels so you can talk of everything under the sun with your beloved. Add in a board or card game to the mix and you would have planned the perfect indoor date.
• Recreate your favorite date
Take a trip down memory lane by recreating your favorite date, whether that's the first time you went out together or the one where you really fell for each other. If you can't go to the same restaurant or location, get creative by cooking up the same meal at home.
• Take a walk holding hands
There is nothing like being enveloped in the warmth of your loved one. On Valentine’s Day, a simple thing to do is to take a quiet walk while holding each others’ hands and just being in the moment. Make a beeline for a park where you two stole a quick kiss under the tree, or to the moonlit beach when waves crashed at your feet. If you are busy workaholics, it can be even be a walk from your home to the workplace!
• Slow dance to your song
Don’t we all have a song that reminds us of the time when we fell in love? Remember the early days when you both were nervous and giggly, and holding hands gave you jitters and enveloped you in warmth at the same time? The first kiss and even the first fight over the silliest issue… Oh, those lovely days! Bring them back by putting on your song and slow dancing to it.
