I think this is good for me,
I think that is bad for me,
But in reality,
God only knows what is truly good and truly badfor me.
I think money is good for me,
I believe power is good for me,
I think popularity is good for me,
But in reality,
God only knows what is good for me.
Money filled me with arrogance,
Power made me hostile,
Popularity bred pride,
And I thought this was the way oflife.
But God was watching,
My wayward style,
Yet, he never interfered,
With my way of life.
The choices I made were mine,
Where God had nothing to advise,
So I continued splurging believing Iwas right,
As I was not a docile.
I achieved material success,
But it had no spiritual meaning.
I gained spiritual insight,
But it had no material benefit.
Both were separate,
And neither completed the other.
Remorseless … I kept scaling theladder of materialism,
Thinking it was the pinnacle of mysuccess,
Until the day I realised,
It was hollow and lacked the spiritualessence.
This is when I clearly saw,
While my earthly actions were thriving,
I was grossly off-track in spiritual matters,
Just as there are earthly rights and wrongs,
There are also heavenly rights and wrongs.
It made me realise,
That I should change my stride,
Shift from materialism to morality,
From materialism to spiritualism,
But by then it was too late,
Coz … the wind had left the sail,
And I was derailed.
