It would be prudent for the Transport Ministry to programme the recently installed AI cameras to also issue challans to motorists who use high beam LED headlights that completely blind drivers coming from the opposite direction.
It has become common for vehicles fitted with LED lights to drive with high beams, showing little concern for the inconvenience and danger caused to other road users, especially two-wheeler riders. This can lead to serious and sometimes fatal accidents.
Another concern is the practice of some two-wheelers keeping their headlights on even during the daytime. When questioned, some riders claimed that this was a manufacturer’s decision. If true, this sounds absurd and needs to be reviewed.
As we all know, driving in Goa has become a nightmare due to poor road discipline. The situation is further worsened by outstation drivers using rental cars and bikes without adequate awareness of local road conditions and traffic rules.
