After having spurned the offer to take on the Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai, TMC MP Luizinho Faleiro finally descended on the Fatorda grounds in support of party young woman candidate Adv Seoula Vas. Fatorda is not new for Faleiro, having his residence at Borda and that a large area of the constituency was formerly part of his erstwhile Navelim constituency. None other than Faleiro knows for sure that much water has flown down the river Sal since 1989 when Fatorda was carved out of Navelim constituency.
Comedian Humbert stands by CM
Ace comedian Humbert was at his usual best, this time on his home turf Fatorda. Having embraced the BJP, Humbert had a request or two for Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. He reminded Fatordekars that the Chief Minster is no ordinary citizen, but a doctor by profession. Sending home the message loud and clear to the people to stand by BJP candidate Damu Naik in the ensuing polls, Humbert was clear in saying that Pramod Sawant may have the pills to resolve the ills plaguing Fatorda.
Time for satraps to support candidates
It’s election time and time for local politicos to lend their support to candidates of their choice. Don’t be surprised to find local satraps supporting different candidates in different constituencies, contesting on different party labels. Former South Goa ZP chairperson Nelly Rodrigues was seen with Nuvem Independent candidate Wilfred D’Sa at the time of filing of nomination papers. In Benaulim, Nelly is moving door-to-door to drum up support for TMC MLA Churchill Alemao. Interesting, isn’t it?
Cipru lends support to Valanka, Filipe Nery
Three-time Navelim MLA Cipru Cardozo is another local satrap supporting two different candidates in fray on different party labels. In Navelim, Cipru and his group of supporters have all rallied behind TMC candidate, Valanka Alemao. In neighbouring Velim constituency, Cipru has lent his support to ex-Minister and NCP candidate Filipe Nery Rodrigues. Reason: Filipe Nery had helped him in his ZP election since his ZP constituency boundary extends right up to the villages of Dramapur and Sarzora in Velim constituency.
Digambar leaving nothing to chance
Opposition leader Digambar Kamat seemed leaving no stone unturned to reach out to his voters. The Congress leader was spotted in the Rumdamol Housing Board on Tuesday night, raising speculations that Kamat has come to canvass for Navelim Congress candidate Avertano Furtado. Realisation later dawned that Kamat’s presence in the Housing board was to interact with a group of Margao voters who are staying in the Housing Board.
