Amidst the thousands of Carnival revellers who thronged the Big Fat Fatorda Carnival, political friends of the Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai were conspicuous by their presence on the SGPDA grounds. If Aam Aadmi Party Velim Cruzbab Silva made his presence on the third day of the festivities, Vijaibab’s close friends, including Aam Aadmi Party chief Amitbab Palekar, Congress leader Sunilbab Kawthankar, besides others took time off to partake in the Carnival festivities. Reginaldo’s power play: Health camp with a political touch
What message did Curtorim Independent MLA try to convey to his constituents when he organised a mega health camp last week – medical services at the people’s door steps. For his political opponents against the backdrop of health camps held in Curtorim, Reginalbab’s message, however, seemed loud and clear that he too cares for the health of the people. That the Independent MLA, supporting the BJP government, roped in Health Minister Vishwajitbab Rane to inaugurate the camp, besides the top GMC team headed by Dean Bandekarbab and doctors only showed that Reginaldbab meant business. MMC politics sees a shift with Damu at the helm
Former two-time BJP Fatorda MLA Damubab Naik’s elevation as BJP State president seemed to have a bearing on local politics, including the BJP-controlled Margao Municipal Council. It’s not that the two-time former MLA was not taken in the loop in matters pertaining to the MMC. As BJP State president, however, Damubab Naik’s name seemed echoing in the Portuguese-era Margao Municipal building like never before. A political observer did not rule out the possibility of Damubab emerging as a power centre in the scheme of things. Wait and watch.
