When Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant descended on Saxttidom during the weekend to interact with his party karyakartas, he was categorical in saying that Salcete mission is no more on the party agenda. Unlike his mentor, late Manoharbhai Parrikar, who launched Mission Salcete in 2004 to woo the minorities to the saffron brigade, Pramodbab does not attach much importance to the mission. Political observers say Mission Salcete may not be relevant anymore when a host of political players and independents are equally vying for the minority space, in what was considered a Congress bastion.
