Vijai has task at hand in Curtorim

Will Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai support Independent Reginaldo Lourenco or Congress candidate Moreno Rebello for the Curtorim seat? This question has come to the fore after Reginaldo has announced plans to contest the polls as an Independent. Take note, part of Curtorim constituency, comprising of the Housing Board area, comes under the Margao Municipal Council, where the Goa Forward enjoys significant presence. The BJP too considers the area as its stronghold. Wait and watch since Vijai has been enjoying a love-hate relationship with Reginaldo over the years.

Benjamin or Adv Antonio for TMC in Velim

Congress rebel Benjamin D’Silva’s entry into the Trinamool Congress party has thrown up a moot question – who will be TMC’s candidate for the Velim seat? The question assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of the fact that young city-lawyer, Adv Antonio Clovis Da Costa has covered much ground in Velim since he embraced the party last year when even seasoned campaigners had raised questions on the Mamata Didi-led party. Wait and watch as local observers say Benjamin must have joined the TMC with the hope of getting the ticket.

Sardinha left in the cold by party?

South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha seemed to have been left in the cold by the Congress leadership. First, the leadership rejected the MP’s plea that the Congress should not forge alliance with other parties. And, now, his claim for the ticket for son Shalom, did not find favour with the Congress leadership in his home constituency Curtorim. Meanwhile, political observers are trying to figure out whom was the MP referring to when he made a plea not to give tickets to candidates with serious criminal cases? Indeed time for introspection.

Churchill unperturbed by Tony’s exit

What has Trinamool Congress MLA Churchill Alemao to say on Tony Dias’ exit from the Mamata Didi party to join the Congress? Don’t be surprised if Churchill tries to downplay the episode. In fact, in his inimitable style, Churchill, in a lighter vein, says that Tony has helped him in Benaulim by introducing TMC symbol ‘flowers’ amongst the people. For, long before Churchill joined the Mamata Didi-led party, Tony had covered a lot of ground in the constituency, introducing him and the TMC to the electorate. Any takers?

What’s BJP planning in Curtorim?

BJP’s delay in unveiling the candidate for the Curtorim seat has left tongues wagging in Saxttidom, what exactly is the saffron brigade’s plan in Curtorim. For, Curtorim did not figure in the candidates’ list unveiled by the party on Thursday despite the fact that the party has been bracing up to contest the ensuing polls. In fact, local ST leader Anthony Barbosa along with the party cadre had covered much ground in Curtorim, holding the party flag flying high in the constituency. Wait and watch.
