Will Mickky get Cong ticket?

THE GOAN NETWORK | JULY 10, 2021, 01:02 AM IST

Flamboyant Mickkybab Pacheco’s announcement he is keeping options open to contest from Nuvem or Benaulim on the Hand symbol, makes reading interesting. For, Congress heavyweight Aleixobab Sequeira has already set his eyes on Nuvem to make a comeback. He is on the move, distributing essential food items to the needy in the constituency. In Benaulim, Varca strongman Bab Churchill seemed leaving no stone unturned to retain the seat. Will the Congress give Mickkybab the ticket in Nuvem by ignoring Aleixobab or field the flamboyant Minister in Benaulim rejecting NCP’s alliance offer. Many questions remain unanswered.

Speculations rife on bigwigs embracing Cong

Are a couple of political bigwigs lining up to embrace the Congress party later this month? Speculations are rife that some political leaders may join the Congress when AICC Goa Desk In-charge, Dinesh Gundu Rao visits the State next time round, tentatively mid-July. While pro-leadership change faction of the Congress anxiously waits for Dinesh Rao to ring in good news during his next visit, those favouring status quo in private say Dinesh will be arriving in the State to clear decks for political leaders to embrace the Principal Opposition party. Wait and watch.

Girish feigns ignorance of Mickky’s praise

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) chief Girishbab Chodankar has feigned ignorance that flamboyant Mickkybab was singing his praises during the weekend. The GPCC chief even maintained that he had not met Mickky for a long time, rubbishing reports that the former Minister must have fired shots at MP Sardinhbab and others at his behest. Opponents of the GPCC aren’t ready to buy Girishbab’s arguments, saying none other than the GPCC chief benefits from Mickkybab’s outbursts against Congress leaders and opposition leaders rooting for alliance? Any questions?

Reginaldo cynosure of all eyes

Congress MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco is in the cynosure of all eyes. At a time when reports were doing the rounds that parties, which have drawn up plans to make big in Goa, have been in close touch with him, news spread earlier this week that the three-time Congress MLA may be called to the national capital. Even Reginaldbab’s close aides did not deny the reports, but were quick to point out that the MLA would head to Delhi only when invited. Rivals have been trying to figure out whether the reports were genuine or just rumours. Only time will tell.

BJP sets eyes on Curtorim in 2022 polls

How would the saffron brigade go about Curtorim in 2022, is a question doing the rounds in Curtorim countryside. When there were reports that Congress MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco may seek re-election as an independent, apparently with support from the saffron brigade, local BJP workers do not rule out the possibility of the party entering the fray in 2022. Sources said party leaders Anthony Barbosa and Bhavesh Zambaulikar have had talks with party leaders including State President Sadanandbab Tanavade, insisting the party contest Curtorim on the Lotus symbol in 2022. Wait and watch.
