Valanka is pitted against goalkeeper-turned-politician Avertano Furtado, who had emerged as a giant killer in 2012 by defeating Churchill from Navelim. In neighbouring Cuncolim, Yuri’s main rival is Congress-turned-BJP sitting MLA Clafasio Dias, who had won the seat by a whisker against Joaquim Alemao in 2017. Wait and watch.
