His tryst with the law

Goa Forward Chief Vijaibab Sardesai seems to have had his way when the Fatorda cops told him to stop using the loudspeaker at a protest meeting. No doubt, the police did not unplug the loudspeakers, but the episode only brought back the bitter memories when the men-in-uniform in the past had stopped Vijaibab’s late-night programmes when he was in the opposition. Sources say the Fatorda police had come well prepared to unplug the loudspeaker, but senior police officers advised otherwise on the ground that it was just a small protest and not a public meeting. Indeed, a loud and clear message to the Fatorda MLA from the Home department in the run-up to the polls.

Hazard a guess who were the Congress leaders, who headed to Curtorim to extend their birthday wishes to the party’s irrepressible MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco on October 5. Unlike his 50th birthday, Reginaldbab did not celebrate his birthday due to Covid. The birthday celebration was a low-key affair.
