Mind games begin ahead of alliance

Mind games begin ahead of alliance

Days after Congress top leader Rahul Gandhi joined hands with Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai and others in Delhi, leaders of the two parties seemed back to their mind games ahead of formally stitching an alliance. When workers of the two parties thought and believed that they would jointly fight the ensuing polls, Congress leaders have now been found speaking in different tones over alliance. Chiddu’s denial of alliance with Goa Forward and Dinesh Gundu Rao’s invitation for talks and that too in the Congress office suggests the obvious. Wait and watch.

Girish against alliance, but for merger

Is GPCC chief Girishbab Chodankar not ready to join hands with long-time political rival, Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai? No, not at all. If sources are to be believed, Girishbab is not only willing to extend his hand, but ready to welcome his arch rival with open arms on a condition, Vijaibab merge the Goa Forward lock, stock and barrel in the Congress. Sources say Girishbab is still firmly opposed to an alliance with the Goa Forward, and is believed to have told party leaders that they should try and get Vijaibab merge the regional party into the Congress. Any takers?

Advantage Cong as GF reduced to 1?

What are the options available for Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai in the changing political equations, more so after the exit of Bhandari leaders, Kiranbab and MLA Jayeshbab quitting the regional outfit? Well, the Goa Forward Political Affairs Committee must have deliberated on this ticklish question within the four walls of Goemkar Ghor in the last two days. For, many a leader of the regional outfit in private suspect the Congress appeared suddenly flexing its muscles while dealing with the regional outfit. Wait and watch.

Churchill cynosure of all eyes

Where’s Varca strongman Bab Churchill? Well, after setting a 15-day time to unveil his future political plan, Churchillbab seems bracing up to chart out a new political course next week. While he is yet to officially speak his mind on the party he would finally park himself, the visit of Mamata Didi early next week has only raised speculations whether he would embrace the Trinamool Congress. Reports emanating from Borda hillock indicate that Kumpar, MP Luizinhbab Faleiro is waiting to accord a warm welcome for the Benaulim MLA. Any questions?

Suspense ends with Moreno joining BJP

BJP chief Sadanandbab Tanavade’s announcement that a big South Goa leader is embracing the saffron brigade had its echo in Saxttidom. No sooner the news spread far and wide, politicos, scribes and political observers went on a hunting spree throughout the night to zero in on who is set to join the BJP. Phones of Diggu did not stop ringing throughout the night, sources said. While scribes were trying to reach out to Reginaldbab, just to verify the claims made by the BJP leader. It was only in the morning that it became clear that former ZP member Morenobab Rebello has quit the Congress to embrace the BJP.

A time when Moreno’s entry was planned

Did the saffron brigade plan and cook Morenobab’s entry into the saffron brigade on the birthday of Curtorim-based party ST leader, Anthonybab Barbosa? Well, as was reported in this column, the saffron brigade led by CM Pramodbab Sawant had dinner at Morenobab’s residence with elected representatives of local bodies on Anthonybab’s birthday on November 10. Exactly a month later, Morenobab quit the Congress to embrace the BJP. Sounds interesting, isn’t it. By the way, Curtorkar’s and Saxttikars may be anxious to know the status of Moreno’s wife, Michelebai the sitting Curtorim ZP member who was elected on the Congress banner?
