It was a week when the Girish camp in the faction-ridden Goa Congress unit received a double bonanza from the party High Command. Ex-GPCC chief Girishbab Chodankar has made it to the Congress’ highest decision making body, Congress Working Committee (CWC) as its permanent invitee. And, the suspension of the five party leaders, some of whom are known Girishbab’s supporters, who were placed under suspension for the uproar in the Congress House, has been finally revoked by the State party leadership. Any questions?
Will Girish’s elevation clear path for Cong LS ticket aspirants?
How would the Congress party’s decision to appoint ex-GPCC chief Girishbab Chodankar as a permanent invitee to the Congress Working Committee (CWC) play on the Congress choice of Lok Sabha candidate for the South Goa seat in 2024? Well, this question must have come to haunt the Congress ticket aspirants as well as other party leaders after the emerging political developments. The Girish camp seemed bubbling with confidence that his appointment as CWC permanent invitee is one step closer in bagging the prized LS ticket. Rivals, however, say all is still not lost, hoping Girishbab’s CWC appointment is a signal to the ex-GPCC chief to move to the national capital than dabble in local politics. Any takers?
When Digambar was appointed permanent invitee of CWC
Guess who was the Goa Congress politician who was last appointed as a permanent invitee of the Congress Working Committee (CWC)? Well, if sources are to be believed, the Congress High Command had bestowed the status on former Chief Minister Digambarbab Kamat post-2022 Assembly polls when the Congress party was left stranded with 11 seats and the High Command zeroing in on Michaelbab Lobo as the new CLP leader. It’s another matter that Diggu had never attended a single CWC meeting, before he finally severed ties with the party to return back to the saffron brigade after 17 years. Any questions?
All eyes on Churchill’s future political development
Is there any further development in respect of Varca strongman Bab Churchill’s discussions with the Ajit Pawar camp of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)? Well, all appears quite days after Churchillbab’s resignation from the TMC followed by his meeting with NCP leader Praful Patel (Ajit Pawar) camp. Ask Churchillbab to shed light on further developments, if any, the former PWD Minister says wait and watch for further developments after September 8. For, he and his family are heading to the pilgrim centre of Vailankani in Tamil Nadu on the annual pilgrimage.
Vijai’s presence at Pajifond event leaves tongues wagging
It was a week when tongues were left wagging after Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai made his presence at the Pajifond crematorium run by the Hindu Mathagramastha Sabha for the launching of biomass briquettes as an alternate fuel for wood for the cremation of bodies. Even as Vijaibab lighted the pyre to mark the biomass briquettes launch in the presence of HMS chief Bhai Naik, questions did the rounds over the absence of Margao MLA Diggu. Realisation later dawned that the HMS chief Bhai Naik had invited Vijaibab for the launch since Pajifond falls in Fatorda constituency. Any takers?
