The Sarsangan U19 Boys & Girls Test Cricket Series got off to an exciting start at the Arlem Cricket Ground, with Saga Smashers delivering a dominant all-round performance to register a comprehensive 10-wicket victory over Shivtej Warriors on the opening day.
Asked to bat first, Shivtej Warriors were bundled out for 102 in their first innings. Aaheesh Prabhugaonkar top-scored with 26, while Kamakshi Dharwadkar (15) and Siddhant Naik (12) were the other notable contributors. Saga Smashers’ bowling attack was led by Pramay Prabhu and Shlok Borker, who claimed four wickets each, with Shivaansh Kantak picking up the remaining two.
In reply, Saga Smashers piled up 185 in their first innings to take a commanding 83-run lead. Left-handers Dhruv Kamat and Swapnil Nayak scored 35 runs each, while Akshit Pai (26) and Kush Pai Raiker (23) added valuable runs in the middle order. For Shivtej Warriors, Arjun Chimulkar and Aaheesh Prabhugaonkar took two wickets apiece.
Shivtej Warriors struggled again in their second innings and were dismissed for 108. Aaheesh Prabhugaonkar continued his fine form with a top score of 37, supported by Keshav Kundaikar (15) and Ashwath Acharya (12). Saga Smashers’ bowlers shared the wickets, with Arnav Prabhudesai taking two, while Shreyash Kamat, Om Keny, Kush Pai Raiker, Pramay Prabhu, Ayan Borkar and Swapnil Nayak picked up one wicket each.
Chasing a modest target of 26, Saga Smashers completed the task without loss, reaching 26/0, with Shivaansh Kantak scoring 13 to seal a resounding 10-wicket win.
For his outstanding all-round performance, Pramay Prabhu was adjudged the Drogaria Colvalcar Man of the Match. The individual awards went to Dhruv Kamat (Best Batter), Shlok Borker (Best Bowler), Aaheesh Prabhugaonkar (Super Striker) and Kush Pai Raiker (Impact Player).
