MARGAO: Socio-Cultural Club Loutolim advanced to the quarterfinals of the UCT Trophy Inter-Village Football Tournament after a thrilling penalty shootout victory over Guirdolim Club. The match, played at the Government Primary School Ground, Telaulim, ended 2-2 in regulation time, with Guirdolim initially leading 2-0.
Guirdolim's goals came from Vitorino Fernandes and Moses D'Sa in the 15th and 17th minutes, respectively. Loutolim made a comeback with Flager Moraes scoring in the 50th and 55th minutes to level the score at 2-2, sending the game into a penalty shootout.
In the shootout, Loutolim held their nerve, with goals from Shelford Fernandes, Ashwin Colaco, Ignatius D'Silva, Flager Moraes, and Samson Mascarenhas. Guirdolim responded with goals from Vitorino Fernandes, Moses D'Sa, Mario Fernandes, and Joaquim Fernandes, but it wasn't enough to secure the win.
Mark Gomes, the Treasurer of United Club Telaulim, presented the man of the match award to Flager Moraes of Socio-Cultural Club Loutolim for his decisive performance.
