Ashish Eleven win Betalbatim tennis ball cricket tourney

Ashish Eleven beat Spartans CC by 6 wickets to bag the glittering trophy and a purse of Rs 30,000 at the finals of the All-Goa Tennis ball Cricket Tournament, organised by Betalbatim Cricket Club.

Spread over two days, the tourney attracted enthusiastic participation with 12 teams competing for the honours.

Goa's first Ranji Trophy wicket-keeper, Vinod Dhamaskar, who was chief guest lauded BCC for organising the tournament.

Dhumaskar who has played cricket in Australia, New Zealand and England runs the Vinod Dhamaskar Cricket Academy. He congratulated the winners and had a word of praise for all participants even as he recalled his own association with the Club since 1975 when he played at BCC's registered tournaments.

Former BCCI administrator, Prashant Joshi was the guest of honour and dwelt on his playing days in Betalbatim. He lauded the standard of the game played in the finals and complimented the Club as well as the Panchayat for supporting sports.

He expressed the hope that Betalbatim would soon have a dedicated cricket ground with a proper pitch for conducting season ball games.

BCC member Abdul Majid, the present Treasurer of Goa Cricket Association pledged all possible help to BCC in their cricketing activities.

Founder member Remedios Rebello, the former Chairman of Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, proposed the vote of thanks where he noted the contributions of the Organising Secretary Filbert Cita, the club President Franklin Fernandes and all members in the conducted of the tournament.
