MARGAO
Canacona Sports and Cultural Club stormed into the final of the UCT Trophy Inter-Village Football Tournament, organised by the United Club of Telaulim, with a dramatic 5-3 victory in a tie-breaker over St. Sebastian Youth Club, Murida Fatorda. The match was played at the Government Primary School grounds, Telaulim.
St. Sebastian Youth Club took an early lead in the first half with goals from Richie Vaz (2nd minute) and Hansulum Furtado (10th minute), putting Canacona on the back foot. However, Canacona fought back in the second half with goals from Chaitan Komparant (33rd minute) and Terance Lobo (38th minute), leveling the match and forcing a tie-breaker.
In the tie-breaker, Canacona’s goals came from Ronaldo Oliveira, Yamunsab Pinjar, Shawne Alfonso, Terance Lobo, and American Barrette, while St. Sebastian Youth Club managed Rahul Sharma, Hansulum Furtado, and Alfred Noronha on the scoreboard.
The Man of the Match award was presented to Terance Lobo of Canacona by Alister Ferrao, Chairman of United Club of Telaulim, for his outstanding performance.
