MCC Knights booked their place in the 'qualifier 2' of the MCL 11 T-20 cricket tournament with a commanding 58-run victory over MCC Masters, in a Eliminator match played at the MCC Ground, Margao. With this win, the Knights will now face MCC Thunder in the second qualifier on 26 December.
Batting first, MCC Knights posted a competitive 162/9 in 20 overs. Sairaj Dhond top-scored with a fluent 38, while useful contributions came from Vikram Gaitonde (23), Ameet Kakode (18), Kapil D.S. Borker (18) and Siddhant Ghanekar (18). For MCC Masters, Dr. Prasad Ghode was impressive with the ball, claiming 3/30, supported by Sudesh Prabhudesai (2/20) and Dr. Sunny (1/15).
In reply, MCC Masters were bowled out for 104 in 15 overs, despite fighting knocks from Vikrant Prabhu (37) and Dr. Prasad Ghode (18). The Knights’ bowling attack was led brilliantly by Siddhant Ghanekar, who returned outstanding figures of 5/14, well backed by Vipul Kalekar (2/8) and Vikram Gaitonde (1/20).
For his match-winning all-round performance, Siddhant Ghanekar was adjudged Man of the Match.
