Chandor Club cruised into the quarterfinals of the 50th Chandor Seamen Football Tournament with a convincing 4–1 victory over Goa Velha Sports Club at the Chandor Church Complex ground.
The hosts started on the front foot, displaying intensity and intent from the very first whistle. Gale D’Costa opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, capitalising on a precise midfield pass. Four minutes later, Moises D’Sa doubled the lead with a brilliant solo effort, dribbling past defenders before finding the net to make it 2–0.
Goa Velha responded quickly, with Francis Afonso pulling one back in the 28th minute to keep his side in the game. The first half ended with Chandor holding a 2–1 advantage.
In the second half, Goa Velha pressed hard for an equaliser but were denied time and again by Chandor’s agile goalkeeper Rio Rebello, who stood tall under pressure.
Chandor regained control of the match and extended their lead through Kenzen D’Costa in the 43rd minute. The final goal came from Akram Yadvad, who showcased his class with a clever chip into the top left corner, sealing the victory at 4–1.
Kenzen D’Costa was named Man of the Match and received the award from former Chandor player and ex-Sarpanch Estefanio Dias.
As part of the tournament’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, Chandor Club presented a commemorative memento to Goa Velha Sports Club, handed over by team captain Ashley Pereira.
