Stating that there is no shortcut in achieving dreams, iconic cricketer Sachin Tendulkar advised youngsters to chase their dreams with passion, no matter how tough and challenging the path is, in order to achieve success in life.

“You should be totally focused on whatever you want to achieve in your life. I worked hard and with passion, as cricket was my passion, it was never my profession,” he added.

Tendulkar was speaking at the inauguration of ‘Kala Krida Angan’ a state-of-the-art Multipurpose Auditorium of Centro Promotor De Instrucao (CPI)’s Shri Mallikarjun Vidyalaya, Canacona, on Friday.

“I remember when I was your age, I was also a naughty kid. But you should know to differentiate when you can have fun and when you have to be serious in life,” said Sachin.

“Same way, I remember when I started playing cricket, I had successfully differentiated when to be naughty and when to seriously play cricket. I had a dream to play for my country. I wanted to chase my dream. Suddenly that naughty kid in me became more determined, more focused and began to work even more harder, because that was my dream to play for India.’ “There are no shortcuts in life. Chase your dreams, the path may be tough and challenging. Today's generation wants to have everything ‘right-now’. Remember, you can either have it ‘Right’, or you can have it ‘Now’. Other than that, there is nothing called ‘right now’.”

The master blaster said in any game, it is necessary to work for a number of hours every day to improve one’s game.

“The moment you start to take things for granted, that is the moment of downfall. Don’t take things for granted. So whatever level you reach, continue to follow it up with passion.”

Sachin stated that youth have a great opportunity with the state-of-the art multipurpose auditorium with ample sports facilities.

Tendulkar recalled that when he told his mother that he was travelling to Goa, she told him that Goa is a holy land, and asked him to visit temples there.

Hundreds of people, including students and elders, kept chanting “Sachin, Sachin”, and were desperate to have a close glimpse of the master blaster.
