The Goa University Inter-Collegiate Weightlifting championship for men was held recently at, Jubilee Hall, Goa University, Taleigao Plateau in which VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics Margao has won the first place in championship, while P.G. Goa University secured the Runners-Up position, and V. M. Salgaocar College of Law settled for third place.
Gorakshnath Waifalkar of P.G. Goa University who participated in the Up to & Including 110 Kg Category won ‘Goa University Iron Man Title with a performance of total 272 Kgs with Snatch-126 kgs and Clean & Jerk-146 kgs, having body weight of 94.9 kgs.
The Chief guest for the Prize Distribution ceremony, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sandesh Bugde, School of Chemical Sciences, Goa University and Guest of Honour Dr. Manoj Hede, College Director of Physical Education & Sports, Govind Kare College of Law & Jayesh Naik, National Category 1 referee along with Balachandra B. Jadar, Asst. Director of Physical Education and Sports, Goa University graced the occasion and presented trophies and Medals to the winners.
