Goa’s young shuttlers put up a spirited display on the final day of qualification matches at the Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub Junior (U-15 & U-17) Ranking Badminton Tournament 2025 being held at the Multipurpose Stadium, Peddem.

Leading the charge was Dimple Revonker, who partnered with Tanishka Ganji (TS) to script a fine victory in the U15 Girls Doubles Round 3, defeating Maharashtra’s Aaradhya Amol Dhere and Sai Hemant Joshi 16-14, 15-12. Goa’s promising talent Vansh Khedkar showed grit in a narrow loss to Telangana’s Tanish Reddy Budidha in the Boys U17 Singles Round 5, going down 15-13, 14-16, 15-10 in one of the day’s most competitive matches. In Boys U17 Doubles, Vansh and Shaurya Naik fought valiantly but lost to the Tamil Nadu pair of Dharshan Kumar S.V. and Danish Sulthan 19-17, 15-5. In Girls U15 Doubles, the spirited Goan duo of Anaya Kamat and Aarya Metry bowed out after a 15-7, 15-10 loss to third seeds Niharika A. and Vidharshana T. from Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, among the qualifying seeds, second seed Mehvish Kaur (PNB) dispatched Avika Verma (MP) 15-7, 15-9 in Girls U15 Singles,, while fifth seed Nimeesha Ojha (ORI) came back strongly to beat Shreya Maria Mathew (KER) 3-15, 15-12, 15-9. Sixth seed Aarshia (GUJ) and ninth seed Bhavna Chahal (HAR) also won their respective matches. In the Boys U17 Singles, Maharashtra’s Archit Vyas stunned second seed Parth Gawri (HAR) 15-11, 15-13, while Abhinav Panghal (UP) caused another upset, toppling fourth seed Sivacharann Ganesan (TN) 16-14, 16-18, 15-7. Top seed in Girls U17, Shantipriya Hazarika (ASM), breezed past Aaral Patel (GUJ) 15-5, 15-9.
