Goa asserted firm control over Uttar Pradesh on Day 2 of the Cooch Behar Trophy Elite U-19 four-day match at the GCA Ground, Sanguem, moving decisively towards an outright victory.

Replying to UP's modest first-innings 125, Goa posted a solid 289 in 102.5 overs, securing a commanding 164-run lead. The hosts then continued their dominance with the ball, reducing Uttar Pradesh to 54 for 3 in 22 overs at stumps. With UP still 110 runs behind, Goa stands strongly positioned to wrap up the contest on Day 3.

Wicketkeeper-batter Sai Rajesh Naik top-scored for Goa with a composed 65 off 138 balls, supported by captain Yash Kasvankar, who struck 61. Aditya Kota (48), Shantanu Nevagi (28), Dishank Misquin (25), and Chigurupati Venkata (28) contributed crucial runs, helping Goa build a sizeable lead. UP's bowling resistance came through Ayan Akram and Yash Panwar, who claimed three wickets each.

Facing a huge deficit, Uttar Pradesh's second innings began poorly. Venkata struck early, cleaning up Shantanu Singh and later removing Anmol Nusran (12). Skipper Yash added to the visitors by dismissing Bhavya Sharma, taking a neat catch off his own bowling.

With momentum firmly on their side and UP struggling to recover, Goa appear well on course for a comprehensive victory.
