Sixty-five-year-old British biker Elspeth Beard will share her experiences of being the first British woman to globetrot on a bike, while India’s own Meenakshi Das will speak about her travels across 67 countries on two wheels at The Big Trip Stage during the 11th edition of India Bike Week (IBW) 2024.
The Big Trip Stage, a platform that celebrates mankind’s unquenchable thirst for exploration and honours pioneers of the adventurism spirit, will feature talks and interactions with biking and travel enthusiasts like Beard, who became the first British woman to travel the world on a bike in 1982, and the fearless Das, who explored 67 nations fuelled purely by her wanderlust.
The stage will also showcase modern-day explorers like Marc Travels, a travel blogger in search of the world’s hidden, beautiful corners, as well as renowned Indian bikers such as Sayed Omer Siddique, Tagore Cherry and the duo, Mouna and Shyam from Ruk Sakk Go.
All the speakers will share their stories of passion for adventure and biking during India’s biggest biking festival, which will be held at Vagator in North Goa on December 6 and 7.
The Big Trip Stage will also offer participants and riders the chance to interact with officials from the Overland Trip Organisers and the Western India Automobile Association, who will guide them in obtaining a Carnet de Passage riding licence and an international driving licence, enabling Indian bikers to travel abroad hassle-free.
