Pango hails GFA success on completing thrilling season

The Goa Football Association (GFA) successfully completed its latest season, providing a platform for talented footballers across the state. The chairman of the GFA competition committee Anthony Pango, expressed his delight at delivering a seamless and triumphant league.

Pango emphasized their commitment to nurturing young talent, mirroring initiatives undertaken by other AIFF leagues.

“We got full support and encouragement from the president Dr Caitano Fernandes as he would come to the ground to get the first hand information and also showed great interest in this initiative. We saw some of the best brands of football in Goa. We can see some youngsters emerging and showing their potential," Pango said.

The league witnessed high-quality football with promising youngsters showcasing their potential. Teams are now analyzing their performances, aiming to refine their strategies for the upcoming season.

Pango also highlighted that Goa's football scene thrives beyond just tournaments. "It is not only about organising tournaments, Goa has conducted a series of license courses, grassroots initiatives, and junior camps for both boys and girls. The recent U-17 Women's Championship victory served as a significant accomplishment for the GFA,” he explained.

“Our relentless efforts have paid dividends,” pointed out Pango.

Pango expressed pride in the Goan men's football team's runner-up finish at the Santosh Trophy National Football Championship.

"We are regularly in touch with the State government so that we receive more help in the form of resources and infrastructure. The government also trying its best to see football progress in Goa," he said.

This year's league kept everyone on the edge of their seats, with the championship title undecided until the very last round. The season witnessed matches played across various grounds, including Duler, Ella, Sirsaim Tilak Maidan, Vasco Nagoa Panchayat Sports Complex, SAG Trinity Ground Benaulim, culminating in a spectacular display of football's true spirit.

Pango concluded by celebrating the unifying power of football and its ability to inspire and bring joy. "The successful completion of the season, with all fixtures played as scheduled, serves as a testament to this unifying power."
