St Joseph Vaz College retains Goa University Cycling Championship

St. Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim, has successfully defended its title at the Goa University Inter-College Cycling Championship, winning the championship for the second consecutive year.

The team demonstrated strong performance throughout the event, with individual cyclists also earning podium finishes. Final-year student Vignesh Naik secured a bronze medal, marking three consecutive years of podium finishes, while second-year Bhavesh Naik earned a silver medal, highlighting the team’s growing talent.

The college has a history of consistent performance in cycling, having previously won bronze medals before achieving back-to-back golds in the last two years. Students from the college have also qualified for national-level competitions in recent years.

The team is coached by Physical Education Instructor Infancio Correia and guided by mentor Deepak Ashanagar, who oversee training and strategy. The college provides necessary infrastructure and scheduling support to balance academics with athletics.
