Guardian Angel SC of Curchorem clinched the title of the 2nd Parish Cup 2025 inter-village football tournament after registering a hard-earned 2-1 victory over Ambelim SC in the final played at the Nuvem ground on Sunday.
Ambelim SC took the lead through Asfin Pinto, but Guardian Angel SC staged a strong comeback with goals from Alton Vaz and Fhezer Gomes to seal the win and emerge champions.
Former Chief Minister Churchill Alemao was the chief guest for the final and presented the prizes to the winners and runners-up. Guardian Angel SC received a cash prize of Rs 70,000 along with the trophy, while Ambelim SC were awarded Rs 50,000 and the runners-up trophy.
In the individual awards, Asfin Pinto (Ambelim SC) won the prizes for the first goal of the final and best midfielder. Reagan Costa (Guardian Angel SC) was adjudged best goalkeeper, while Desmond Fernandes (Ambelim SC) was named best defender. Fhezer Gomes (Guardian Angel SC) bagged the best striker award and was also named man of the match, while Velroy Fernandes (Ambelim SC) was adjudged Player of the Tournament.
