Goa women suffer defeat to Maharashtra

Goa's Under-19 women's team suffered a crushing 234-run defeat against Maharashtra in their very first match of the U-19 Women's One-Day Trophy Elite tournament group.A` match on Saturday. The match was played at the Infipro Sports Club Ground in Vadodara.

Batting first, Maharashtra scored 285 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 50 overs. In reply, Goa's innings folded for just 51 runs in 21.3 overs.

For Maharashtra, Dnyanda Nikam (60), Isha Ghule (50) and Nikita Singh (45) played key innings. For Goa, Prachi Nikam took 2 wickets for 47 runs, Vidhi Bhandare claimed 2 for 56, while Usma Khan and Angel D'Costa picked up one wicket each.

Chasing the huge target, Prachi Nikam (15), Joya Meer (11), and Nidhi Govekar (not out 10) were the only Goa batters to reach double figures. For Maharashtra, Dnyaneshwari Patil took 4 wickets for 18 runs, while Gayatri Survase claimed 3 wickets for 17 runs.

Goa will play their next match against Uttar Pradesh on the 15th.
