Albie Morkel could play his first T20I in 18 months having been recalled to the South Africa squad for the series against India in place of David Wiese who has suffered a fractured hand. Wiese suffered the injury to his right hand when trying to take a catch off his own bowling during a warm-up match ahead of the season and required surgery which will keep him out for up to six weeks

South Africa all-rounder Albie Morkel has been called up for a three-match Twenty20 (T20) series in India starting next Friday after David Wiese withdrew with a hand injury.
T20 skipper Faf du Plessis told reporters that 34-year-old Morkel was a welcome inclusion. "Albie brings a lot of experience and is getting another opportunity because he is a quality player," said Du Plessis.
Batsman Rilee Rossouw has been ruled out of the five one-day internationals (ODI) series that follows the T20 matches having failed to recover from a foot stress fracture. Uncapped Khaya Zondo, already part of the T20 squad, takes his place.
Happier news for the Proteas management was that T20 fast-medium bowler Chris Morris has overcome a groin strain and will travel. The Proteas also play four Tests in the longest tour of India they have undertaken. If the final Test lasts five days in Delhi, the tour will stretch from October 2 to December 7.
