TVS Racing riders stole the show in the first round of the MRF Mogrip FMSCI National Supercross Championship 2016 for two wheelers organized by Godspeed Racing,Pune in association with Stalwarts Motorsports Club at Navelim Super Cross Track on Sunday.

As expected, the Bangalore based Arvind KP came and conqurered the overall clash, winning the top honour. Abdul Waheed Tanveer (Team Racing) clinched the second place. The Supercross event witnessed a packed stadium and over 150 entries from riders across the whole nation.

This event proved to be one of the most popular events for riders in the past several years due to the great racing atmosphere and crowds in Goa. The track was a mix or tight technical jumps and smooth corners but completing the race in itself was a huge challenge due to the hot, dry and humid conditions.

But the riders thoroughly enjoyed racing in these different conditions, which went to prove the level of maturity that the national Supercross talent has reached. This is due to the focus that MRF, FMSCI and Godspeed Racing have invested into the growth of this sport in India.

Due to the record number of entries, the organizers had to run two qualifying heats to ascertain the final 22 riders in the Novice Class. Such was the response here and a record of sorts! This event also saw the participation of two new teams in the form of ‘TEN Racing’ and ‘ Lorraines Racing’ who made their debut here in India.

The SX 2 class for ‘privateers’ on foreign machines was a cracker of the race with a hard fought battle between Adnaan Suhail, Vishal and Yash.

The highly coveted title for the Locals class was a tight battle with an 18-member strong grid but it was Shabuddin Sayed who took the top honours in this class.

A special mention to the JR SX with all the participants being under the age of 15 years. These children were the real heroes in the eyes of the fantastic Goa crowds and even received a standing ovation as they took a victory lap around the track.

Mahadeo Naik, Industries Minister was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado and Velim MLA Benjamin Silva. DM, MRF Raghvendra - flagged off the event and did the honours. The event was sponsored by MRF Mogrip in association with the TVS Motor Company, IOC-Servo and Sidvin Core-tech.
