Auxilium High School, Benaulim beat Rosary High School, Navelim 5-4 via tiebreaker to move ahead in the Salcete taluka under-17 Subroto Mukherjee inter school football tournament organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at SAG artificial turf ground, Fatorda on Saturday.
Auxilum High School had early momentum as they scored in the 6th minute through Ahish Rodrigues. However, Rosary High School hit back as Princely Costa beat the rival goalkeeper with an adroit placement, off a Siddesh assist, to score the equaliser. Post resumption, both the teams pressed hard for the match winner but the had to be decided through a tiebreaker. In the shootout, Auxilium High School, Benaulim netted through Declan Goes, Jalen Fernandes, Shennoy Andrade and Lester Costa, while Princely S Costa, Ajay Raj M and Julius A Ferrao found the mark for Rosary High School.
In other matches, Regina Martyrum High School, Assolna hammered St Xavier’s High School, Velim 3-0. Godfrey Crasto put the Assolna school in the lead, and Jasvir Crasto doubled the lead. Nash Diniz, who played a stellar role for his team, rounded off the scoreline with his team’s third goal. Government Multipurpose HSS, Borda blanked Cresent High School, Fatorda 2-0. Sohail Tadkod and Tayyib Raila were the goal getters.
