MARGAO: Bhati and Agxem advanced to the next round of the 7-a-side Curtorim Inter-Ward Football Tournament 2026 with victories in their respective matches at the St Alex Church Ground, Curtorim. The tournament is being organised by the St Alex Parish Youth, Curtorim.
Bhati registered a hard-fought 2-1 win over Rumba. Mevan Dias gave Bhati the lead in the 15th minute before doubling the advantage early in the second half to put his side 2-0 ahead. Rumba pulled one goal back through Veron Fernandes, but Bhati held firm to secure their place in the next round.
In the day's other fixture, Agxem produced a dominant display to thrash Damdolem 9-1. Savio Peixoto starred with four goals, while Frazer Castanha netted a brace. Nixon Castanha, Manuel Castanha and Maxwell Castanha also got on the scoresheet with a goal each to complete the rout.
Matvey Mascarenhas of Rumba was named Man of the Match in the first game and received the award from Elton Dias, Cultural Secretary of St Alex Parish Youth. In the second match, Vincy Cardozo of Damdolem was adjudged Man of the Match and was presented the award by Fr Manuel Dias, Parish Priest.
