Goans football buffs will get to see three-time champion Brazil take on debutant Niger in their last Group D league match in the FIFA U-17 World Cup on Friday at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, at 8 pm.
The Brazilian side won the U-17 South American Football Championship earlier this year but it has been a while since they have won the U-17 World Cup, with the last victory coming in 2003. itle.
Brazil coach Carlos Amadeu had spoken highly of Brazilian youngsters before the tournament began and his boys displayed that trait in ample measure. "Of course, winning a trophy at this tournament will be positive for us."
Brazil, who have virtually cemented a place in the next round are now at the top of the group with six points from two matches. They should go through as one of the best third placed teams even if they lose their final group match against Niger on Friday. In Goa, they will find huge support from the fans.
"We are happy to come down to Goa, the place is similar to Brazil and we feel at home here as the weather is same like Brazil," said media manager Gregorio.
"We are happy to play our last match of the league down in Goa as there are lot of Brazilian fans staying here and they will come to cheer our team."
Niger had a lot to smile after tasting their first win in the U-17 World Cup against DPR Korea.
