Tiatr lovers have a great opportunity to watch the populartiatr of yester years ‘Amchea
Xetachi Pavnni’, penned by the late Aleixinho de Candolim inthe early sixties soon after Goa’s liberation. The original cast of the tiatrincluded some of the stalwarts of the Konkani tiatr stage such as Jacinto Vaz,Kid Boxer, Airestides Dias, Conception-Nelson-Anthony, Champion Peter and theshow was staged in different parts of Goa.
The tiatr ‘Amchea Xetachi Pavnni’ is a very bold script andexposes the cruel acts of the landlords of the then Portuguese era. The repeatperformance of the tiatr is now directed by Shri Tomazinho Cardozo and itfeatures the award winning artistes of Kala Mogi Candolim. Apart from these,the cast includes Sheik Amir, Succorro de Santa Cruz, Maria, Eugenio, Irene,Joslyn, Selza, Assis, Tomazinho and others.
The stage sets are designed by Chari, while music is scoredby Cota, and the background music is handled by Joy Fernandes. The lightingeffects are by Dnanjay, and make-up by Shantaram.
The tiatr is staged by the Aleixinho de Candolim BirthCentenary celebrations committee as a part of the centenary celebrations whichbegan in July 2012.
