CAC Cansaulim see off Betalbatim, reach semis

Goals by striker Agnelo D'souza enabled CAC Cansaulim overcome Betalbatim SC 2-0 and enter the semifinals of the 21st Fr Basilio Andrade football tournament at Musson ground, Majorda.

Betalbatim will now meet hosts AA de Majorda in the semifinals on Wednesday. CAC Cansaulim went ahead in the second minute through Agnelo. Chadwick D'souza, the livewire of the Cansaulim team, then gave an accurate pass to Agnelo, who banged home from close range for his brace in the 5th minute, 2-0.

The second session saw Betalbatim distributing the ball with medio Sydney Sequeira and Savan Lotikar trying their best to breach the strong Cansaulim defensive line but without any success.

Cuncolim Union reach quarterfinals
Cuncolim Union downed CDJ Ribandar 3-1 to enter the semifinals of the Navelim Villagers Union Trophy played in memory of late Jose Santa Rita Coelho (Babush) at Rosary Church ground, Navelim on Saturday.

Cuncolim Union netted through Tushal Gaonkar and Clifton Fernandes in the 8th and 23rd minutes respectively. In the second half, Dylan Carvalho netted the third goal for Cuncolim in the 60th minute. Sandesh Kavlekar pulled a goal back for CDJ Ribander with a few minutes left for the final whistle.

Meanwhile Canacona Sports and Cultural beat Rossman Cruz Nagoa to move into the quarterfinals. Rossman Cruz went ahead through a goal scored by Andru Jhon. In the 2nd half, Canacona levelled terms with a penalty goal scored by Terrance Lobo. In the tiebreaker, Austin Diniz, Prafhal Velip, Yamunazab Pinger, Rannel D'Souza and Terrance Lobo converted for Canacona, while Andru Jhon, Savio Fernandes and Noel D'Souza found the mark Rossman Cruz.

Papa Boys advance in Cottoca Cup
Papa Boys beat Rebello Boys 6-5 in the United Boys of Cottoca Cup football tournament at Mandopa ground. Allison scored for Rebello Boys in the 15th minute before Ezman neutralised the lead for Papa in the dying minutes. United Boys had the last laugh in the penalty shootout. In other match, Sea Pearl Valley scored through Dawson as they won 1-0 against Eden Boys. Both teams qualified for the quarterfinals.
